Our clients had two special requests for their
American Fork Luxury Hawkstone Home:

… a piano hall for their mother, an accomplished musician, and a care-taking space for their daughter, who is nonverbal and autistic. By integrating the melody of family care-taking and the harmony of music in a custom build, they enjoy the rhythm of life, balancing the highs and lows in a space that feels like home, shaped through both challenge and incredible vision.

Two grand pianos and a drum set are present in an indoor room with white walls and wooden floor.

We love it when a client comes into our office, as Rob did. With a glint in his eyes, he handed Israel, Hawkstone’s founder, a CAD drawing of his wife’s dream music room. “Can you make this happen?” As a professional musician who has performed at Carnegie Hall, we were able to bring her vision of a concert venue into her home.!

  • The customized music platform has zero vibration transfer from either the xylophone or the grand piano.
  • An exterior entrance allows students to be welcomed without disturbing the household.
  • Taking her piano’s size into account, we ensured the largest possible grand piano could be delivered to the basement, building a custom access path to accommodate it. By the time they closed on the home, Rob called and said, “I did buy the bigger piano!” Since we planned for the biggest, they were able to showcase their beautiful new heirloom instrument.

The upstairs loft was designed to meet the special needs of their daughter, Evelyn, who has nonverbal autism. This home enables the family to care for her more easily and is designed to provide additional support as she ages.

  • Extended steps allow her to move comfortably, one level at a time.
  • Bathroom with handrails, an ADA-compliant shower, and a sanitation “poo-shoot” for sanitary diaper disposal
  • A large play space supports learning and growth, complemented by a custom, face-forward bookshelf for easy access to her favorite reads.
  • Elevator shafts are built in for a future when Evelyn will need direct access to her loft from the garage.

“I am never going to worry if you are honest or not,” the homeowner said at the end of the project. A severe rainstorm left the subfloor warped and damaged before the roof could be installed. The manufacturer claimed the damage was within tolerance, but it was unacceptable. Many contractors would have built over it and assumed the homeowner wouldn’t notice. For builder Israel Patterson, that wasn’t an option. He pushed the manufacturer to honor the warranty and absorbed the cost of removing and replacing the subfloor to his standard. The homeowner reflected, “I think most people would just try to squeak by and keep the project moving. The fact that you guys stopped and made sure it was done right—that’s why I’m building with you.”

This is what it means to build with Hawkstone—where every detail is intentional, every challenge is met with integrity, and every home is designed to serve the people who live in it.
